Dr Kaley Crawford-Flett is a geotechnical engineering specialist who promotes the advancement of engineering practice through industry-focused research, technical and regulatory project management, and independent consultancy.

Kaley is the Immediate Past Chair of the New Zealand Society on Large Dams (NZSOLD) and is a Senior Research Fellow within the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Auckland.  Her research and consulting activities focus on managing internal erosion risks and other hazards, particularly for aging soil structures. Kaley’s professional contributions improve the understanding and management of complex risks facing infrastructure in New Zealand.

Kaley is an appointed member of the Technical Working Group for New Zealand Building (Dam Safety) Regulation. Kaley serves as a reviewer for various academic journals and was an editor of the 2024 NZSOLD New Zealand Dam Safety Guidelines.  In a consulting capacity, she presently serves as Engineering Technical Coordinator for the government-convened Seismic Risk Working Group.
